Duties Work environment Working in a correctional institutional environment with offenders and staff members. Provision of assistance in the preparation, distribution and service of meals and preparation and distribution of groceries to offenders in an institution of the Correctional Service of Canada or a Regional Food Production Centre (RFPC). Training of offenders in the area of Food Services to improve their employability skills and behaviours. of the process A pool of partially / fully assessed candidates may be established through this selection process to staff positions with various tenures and language requirements across Canada. In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications) EDUCATION Successful completion of two years of secondary school or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience Degree equivalency EXPERIENCE For GS-FOS-03 and GS-FOS-02 positions: Recent experience working in food services within a commercial or institutional setting EXPERIENCE Experience working with cash register or Point of sale system Experience working in a correctional environment (institutional or community office) KNOWLEDGE Knowledge of food preparation and service techniques (e.g. portion control, measuring ingredients, operating kitchen equipment etc.) Knowledge of preparation and food handling procedures Knowledge of workplace safety requirements, hygiene and sanitation practices Knowledge of safe lifting and carrying techniques ABILITIES Ability to perform simple mathematical calculations accurately Ability to communicate effectively orally Ability to provide training PERSONAL SUITABILITY Work in a team Judgment Dependability
